Woman Arrested For Smuggling Cocaine In Sauce Containers

There was a secret in her sauce.

A Mexican drug mule was busted for trying to smuggle more than 3 pounds of cocaine into the U.S. by hiding it in sauce containers, the feds said Tuesday.

Reynalda Leal Ricando, who flew into Kennedy Airport from Mexico City, was flagged for an inspection after declaring that she had brought along some food from home.

When U.S. Customs agents ran her baggage through the x-ray machine, they spotted a “suspicious shape” in two of the plastic containers.

Upon closer inspection, the sauce turned out to be what a spokesman described as a “tar like mass” that was seasoned with plastic baggies containing “a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine.”

Ricando, who is a Mexican citizen, was arrested on Sept. 22 and turned over to Homeland Security. She faces narcotics smuggling charges when she appears in Queens Supreme Court.
